New Brisbane to San Francisco direct flights to take off with United Airlines

United Airlines will offer game-changing new Brisbane to San Francisco direct flights three times a week from 28 October 2022 for non-stop access to the US in a partnership between Queensland Government and Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC).

United Airlines will offer game-changing new Brisbane to San Francisco direct flights three times a week from 28 October 2022 for non-stop access to the US in a partnership between Queensland Government and Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC).

Ex-Brisbane travellers will be set to jet to San Francisco on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday with return flights operating on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday weekly.

The US carrier coup is the first new route landed by the Queensland Government and BAC partnership through the $200 million Attracting Aviation Investment Fund.

The United Airlines deal is set to inject $73 million into the Queensland economy, ramping up job opportunities and the economy as well as additional cargo capacity from the US.

BAC CEO Gert-Jan de Graaf said the airline deal had the potential to add around 80,000 extra seats in and out of Queensland annually.

As Brisbane Airport welcomes more than 75 per cent of all international travellers into Queensland, securing United is good news for tourism and hospitality business from Coolangatta to the Cape,” he said.

Access to 80-plus North American cities

Offering direct access to Silicon Valley and beyond, San Francisco is a major hub for United Airlines with connectivity to more than 80 North American cities.

Likewise, the new Virgin Australia and United Airlines partnership opens up routes to almost 20 other Australian destinations via Brisbane.

United Airlines was the only carrier to maintain passenger flights between Australia and the US during the pandemic and the new Brisbane–San Francisco direct route will offer more international services as travel demand continues to soar.
