More Vietnam anyone? After announcing it would be flying to Melbourne from April this year, Vietjet has added Sydney to its list of global destinations.
Commencing 12 April 2023, Vietjet will connect Sydney and Ho Chi Minh City with three flights per week, departing Sydney on Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 10.15am and landing in HCMC at 4.30pm.
Return flights will depart Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 7.30pm and touch down in Sydney at 7.20am (+1).
The carrier will utilise its A330 aircraft on the route.
But the airline doesn’t intend to stop there.
Upon announcement of the NSW service, Vietjet Vice President Nguyen Thanh Son also said that “in the coming year, we plan to expand to cities including Brisbane, Darwin and Adelaide”.
Additionally, the airline stated it aims to grow its network to reach five continents in 2023.

“With our state-of-the-art fleet and all-in service package, Vietjet is poised to expand its international network and boost trade and tourism,” Nguyen said.
“Our direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne and Sydney make it easier and more convenient for business, education and tourism between Vietnam and Australia.”
“Free” flights from Melbourne
As the airline prepares for its Melbourne launch in early April, it has also released thousands of free promotional tickets. Yes, “free”.
From 14 to 20 February, Vietjet will offer AU$0 tickets for non-stop flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne and Sydney for travel between 8 April and 29 October 2023. But be prepared to pay taxes and likely some ancillary fees.
The tickets are only available via the carrier’s website and mobile app.
What you get
Vietjet’s cabins include SkyBoss Business, SkyBoss, Deluxe and Eco.
According to the low cost carrier, each class offers “all-inclusive services such as up to 60 kgs of checked baggage, organic food, free travel insurance and more”.
Nguyen added, “our successful launch of the SkyBoss Business and Deluxe ticket classes has received great support from passengers, and we look forward to offering even more flying opportunities across the five continents for the Vietnamese people”.
