Heritage Hotels continues to expand its presence in the south of New Zealand with news that the Heritage Dunedin Leisure Lodge has just joined the group.

Chief Executive Officer of Heritage Hotel Management Graham Yan said he was delighted to welcome the “respected and well-established hotel” to the fold.

“Dunedin is a city we have wanted to be represented in strategically for some time, but we were just waiting for the right property and now we have it,” he said.

“There are also many synergies in the corporate, leisure and meetings markets we operate in that will align well with Heritage Dunedin Leisure Lodge’s target markets.”

The hotel is in Duke Street opposite the Botanic Gardens and is convenient to the CBD and within walking distance to the University of Otago and the Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Set in two acres of park-like grounds, the hotel has 76 hotel rooms, the popular McGavins Restaurant and Bar and two versatile conference facilities – the McGavin Room and the historic Oast House.

The hotel is Qualmark four-star-rated and also offers free car parking, Sky TV and Wi-Fi.

The design of the hotel is by architects Warren and Mahoney and makes use of the former site of the McGavin Brewery which brewed its last beer in 1958.

To honour the property’s heritage, the stone Oast House (a former malting kiln) has been redeveloped as a conference venue for meetings and weddings.
