Melburnians will be able to fly into the heart of the Kimberley when Virgin Australia & Alliance Airlines launch non-stop services to the north-west town of Kununurra.
Commencing 18 May 2020, the new Melbourne-Kununurra service will run three times weekly over a six-week period, ending 31 August 2020.
Flights from Melbourne will take off on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while the return journey will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Working with APT, Tourism WA and the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley, the new service will complement and support Kimberley tour product, including APT’s 10-day Kimberley Coast Cruising program, which includes return economy airfares when booked before 30 June 2019.
Angus Tandy, APT’s Head of Kimberley and Outback Wilderness Adventures, described Kununurra as the perfect gateway to the Kimberley region and expects new flights to make it easier for travellers to visit.
“This partnership with Virgin Australia allows our guests a far more convenient and stress-free journey to this epic part of Australia.”
