NTIA Awards - now is the time to nominate

Did you agree with last year's NTIA Award winners? Think they deserve another award or do you think there's someone else out there that deserves some recognition? Perhaps it's you.

Did you agree with last year’s NTIA Award winners? Think they deserve another award or do you think there’s someone else out there that deserves some recognition? Perhaps it’s you.

Nominations for this year’s AFTA National Travel Industry Awards have opened, giving you the chance to vote in for your favourites across the industry.

For any travel newbies, AFTA annual NTIA Awards recognise excellence in the Australian travel sector.

After the voting process, the industry awards winners at the annual Gala Awards Night.

This year there are 37 award categories including seven new ones. There’s also the Emirates Travel Consultant Scholarship, which recognises an individual with three years or less experience in the industry.

How are winners selected? You nominate, vote and then a final judging panel selects the winners based on your feedback.

Once the industry’s best are selected, the entire sector puts on their finest for the annual Gala Awards Dinner.

In 2015 the Gala Dinner will be on Saturday 18 July at Dockside Pavilion Darling Harbour.

Qantas will once again sign on as a major sponsor of the event along with a number of other Silver sponsors such as the Travel Corporation, Worlds Leading Cruise Lines, Accor, Amadeus and more.

AFTA’s Jayson Westbury said every year the celebration gets bigger and bigger.

This year there are three nomination forms being used during the NTIA process – one form for the travel agent to nominate a supplier and another for a supplier to nominate a travel agent in the various categories. The third form is for the Emirates Travel Consultant Scholarship, which is a self nomination application.

Nominations will only be accepted via an online form and each nomination will be verified prior to proceeding to the voting stage of the award process.

Another important change for NTIA 2015 is that companies or individuals being nominated under categories one to 17 and 37 must be an ATAS accredited business or work for an ATAS accredited agency.

The nomination period will run from 9:00am (EDST) Monday 2nd February through to 5:00pm (EDST) Friday 20th February 2015. The final nominee list will be announced in March 2015.
