Ten years after launching, Oasis of the Seas will return to the factory for a ‘larger than life’ makeover, which Royal Caribbean’s President Michael Bayley, believes will “disrupt the industry once again”.

Hoping that big bucks ($165 million!) will equal bold results, Bayley said the tween vessel will “turn heads” when she reemerges from the factory in late November.

Oasis will be the first to debut an authentic BBQ restaurant.

Come 24 November 2019 and Oasis of the Seas will be the first ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet to have a barbecue concept onboard called ‘Portside BBQ‘ where the “best-in-class barbecue across the United States’ will be served.

Dishes will range from smoked marbled brisket to pulled pork and chicken, and beef ribs, along with mac and cheese, homestyle cornbread, baked beans and coleslaw.

Budding singers can showcase their talent at Spotlight Karaoke.

Also making its Royal Caribbean debut on Oasis of the Seas will be a venue completely dedicated to karaoke called ‘Spotlight Karaoke‘. Located on the Royal Promenade, it’ll be the place where budding singers can showcase their talent on either the main stage or in one of two private rooms.

The kids will have a blast in the Splashaway Bay – a water park to young cruisers – where they’ll find three waterslide, water cannons, fountains, pools and twin drench buckets. They’ll also be drawn to the Sugar Beach, the ship’s candy and walkup ice cream window.

The Abyss – the tallest water slide at sea is coming to Oasis of the Seas.

Drool-worthy Mexican dishes will be served up at the new El Loco Fresh (mmm made-to-order quesadillas), while The Lime & Coconut will be the liveliest spot onboard with poolside cocktails, DJs and live music.

Perhaps the most exciting changes will be made to the Top Deck, where the tallest slide at sea will be installed for the most courageous cruisers. Called The Abyss, it’ll travel 10-stories and will sit near The Perfect Storm – an action-packed trio of multistory waterslides known as Typhoon, Cyclone and Supercell.

These additions plus more will make their debut on Oasis of the Seas when she returns to the Caribbean on 24 November for East and West itineraries.
