Starting in December 2024, a new high-speed rail service connecting central Paris and central Berlin in just eight hours has been unveiled.
Operated by Deutsche Bahn and SNCF, the route passes through Strasbourg, Karlsruhe and Frankfurt, offering an efficient and eco-friendly alternative to flying.
According to Rail Europe, tickets will be available from 16 October 2024, with prices starting at €59 (around AU$95) for second class and €69 ($110) for first. Special offers will be available for families, youth and business travellers.
The service aims to boost the 25 million annual train passengers between Germany and France – and you can bet many Australians will jump onboard the journey too, as rail travel becomes increasingly popular with Aussie holidaymakers.
Meanwhile, Rail Europe has announced that travel advisors can now book Deutsche Bahn train journeys between Germany and Denmark, as well as other Danish routes, on Rail Europe’s B2B platforms – including RailAPI, RailFlash and RailPortal.
The platforms’ multi-carrier features allow for bookings with different providers in a single journey, with popular trips including Hamburg-Copenhagen, Zürich-Aarhus and Amsterdam-Odense.
“By providing new routes from major European hubs into Denmark, we give our customers more options for sustainable travel across the region,” Rail Europe Chief Product and Technology Officer Jürgen Witte said.
“These new connections simplify travel and open doors to exciting new destinations across Europe, for business and leisure travellers alike.”
In June, Rail Europe launched its first travel agent e-brochure with themed itineraries.
Earlier this year, it also unveiled a new campaign aiming to put Rail Europe literally on the map for travel agents called Only Europe. Only by Train.
