PokéPark Kanto has officially opened in Tokyo, transforming Pokémon fandom into a real-world adventure at the franchise’s first permanent Pokémon outdoor theme park as Japan’s tourism boom hits go.

The brand-new PokéPark Kanto is within Yomiuriland, around 30 minutes from central Tokyo, on 5 February 2026, spanning 26,000sqm and two distinct areas: Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town.

One section is a forest trail featuring more than 600 life-sized Pokémon in a wooded nature setting with hills, grass and rocks, while the other is a traditional theme park with rides, retail and themed food and drinks alongside entertainment and exclusive merch.

Fans can “heal” a Pokémon in real life at the Pokémon Center, buy themed refreshments and snacks at the Poké Mart and ride kid-friendly attractions, such as the spinning Pika Pika Paradise and Vee Vee Voyage carousel and enjoy cute stage shows.

It’s the first permanent Pokémon theme park, building on the popularity of temporary attractions, such as Pokémon the Park in Nagoya and then Taiwan, and a Pokémon Island Adventure at Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast even earlier in 1999. You can even fly to Japan with ANA on Pikachu jets.

So far, visitor reactions to the small-scale franchise theme park facility have been mixed. Pokémon fans flocked to the opening after high demand saw early-entry lottery access snapped up quickly.
