The travel industry’s very own Reho Travel has been honoured as one of the world’s best companies for their contribution to the community.

 

The Victoria-based travel company has been nominated ‘Best for the Community’ in the ‘Best for the World’ list.

Ten Australian companies were honoured on the ‘Best for the World’ list this year, split over their contribution to their workers, community and the planet.

The ‘Best for the World’ list honours the top 10 percent of all certified B Corporations (B Corps).

Overall winners this year were Three Sista’s from Manunda, Queensland and Australian Ethical Investment in Sydney.

The two companies achieved highest honour and were named ‘Best for the World Overall’.

In addition to them, nine Australian (including Reho Travel) and New Zealand organisation made the list under the following categories:

Best for the Community – Reho Travel, Victoria; B Cubed Management Consultants – Victoria; and Our Community Group – Victoria.

Best for the Environment – Energy for People, Victoria; Hive Construction Group, Victoria; Pangolin & Associates, New South Wales; and TuShare, New South Wales.

Best for the Workers – O’Connells OBM, Queensland; and SNAKK Media, New Zealand.

Reho best for community

Reho Travel said being in the top 10 percent of B Corporations worldwide is an ‘immense achievement’.

“To us, the title means that the processes we are putting in place are working and bringing awareness to the industry will create a positive impact on the world. The change we seek is defined globally.”

“We work towards influencing our community of industry partners by asking them to consider their entire supply chain, ultimately creating an industry that is aware of its carbon footprint and choosing suppliers that minimise it.”

The company says it send 10 percent of its profits to a community bank in Malawi, which works to restore hope amongst local communities.

The charity provides them with the opportunity to establish and maintain sustainable small business practices, that help the local people become more self-sufficient.

“At home, our staff are encouraged to take 16 hours paid volunteer leave to work with any charity or not-for-profit of their choice. We are committed to making a difference. Using business as a source for good brings us a step closer to making the world a better place.”

B LabAustralia & New Zealand – a non-profit behind B Corp – Executive Director, Alicia Darvall said receiving a ‘Best for the World’ title recognises a company’s success in business and impact to their surroundings.

“These companies are redefining success in business by holding themselves to a higher level of accountability and transparency for governance, environmental, community and worker impact.”

Reho Travel is now one of 58 certified B Corporations in Australia and New Zealand, and more than 500 companies are currently working through the assessment process.
