Explore Worldwide & Adventure World team up + urge Agents to rediscover the over 50s

If the image of greying seniors sitting in rocking chairs & watching TV all day comes to mind when you think of travellers over 50, then you've got the market all wrong.

If the image of greying seniors sitting in rocking chairs & watching TV all day comes to mind when you think of travellers over 50, then you’ve got the market all wrong.

That is, according to two travel brands specialising in Baby Boomers, that couldn’t stress enough how much the segment has changed in recent years.

Speaking to KARRYON on the eve of Explore Worldwide’s new GSA partnership with Adventure World Travel, Managing Director Joe Ponte said Travel Agents need to rediscover the over 50s market because it’ll ensure they’re selling them what they’re looking for – adventure travel.

Adventure World Travel’s Managing Director Neil Rodgers agreed, saying that the market has “completely changed” from a stationary group to active explorers.

“There are core Agents capitalising on this shift in the segment. They’re offering them holidays that provide the safety of group travel along with heritage accommodation and challenging experiences.”

Neil Rodgers, Adventure World Travel Managing Director

Ponte said Explore Worldwide has collected nearly 40 years worth of expertise in dealing with the over 50 travellers and through its new relationship with Adventure World Travel, is in a prime position to assist Agents in providing the lucrative market with trips graded from relaxed adventure to moderate and full on activities.

Through the GSA partnership, Adventure World Travel will exclusively provide consultants access to Explore Worldwide’s 600 trips to more than 130 countries. They’ll also be able to use the adventure brand’s small group trips alongside their own tailor-made offering.

“From my experience, there’s significant growth opportunity in Australia and Australian travellers love the style we offer.”

“There aren’t too many brands targeting the over 50 age group and combined with Adventure World Travel’s distribution, preferred partnership and passion; we see no limits to the success we can achieve out of this market.”
