Sunrise’s trip around the world continues & Flight Centre’s Social Media Specialist, Millie Yervantian is right alongside them. Here’s her day three blog from New York City.
We arrived at London’s Heathrow Airport at 6.00am to board our flight to New York, but there were major flight delays, which pushed our flight back two hours to 10:30am.
This was probably the tightest leg of our trip in terms of timing, so this was a flight we could not miss. It came down to starting to think of Plan B locations. But we just couldn’t let New York go. Our flight arrived and off we went, using all seven hours to catch up on some much needed sleep.
But that was not the case… we had lost so much time with the flight delays that we set up a make-up studio in the back of the plane.

As soon as we landed we got fast tracked through JFK’s customs, thanks to NYC&co, which helped us buy back a little time.
We made it through the dreaded NYC traffic like a breeze as it was a religious holiday today. Ran to Rockefeller Centre NBC’s Today studios and basically ran onto the set with only a few minutes to catch up on scripts.
We had a great crowd of Aussies out the front of Rockefeller to welcome us to New York.

Sitting in the NBC studios the crew felt at home and everything started to run smoothly again.
We did a quick run around the corner to Magnolia Bakery, which one of the viewers suggested we have the famous buttercream cupcakes, which everyone absolutely devoured after the show.
Then it was straight on the bus and back to JFK airport to catch our flight to Buffalo where we will then jump on a bus to Niagara Falls.
While Kochie and Mel delivered the stories and chatter from NYC, presenter Edwina Bartholomew was flown to Camp Navarro Redwoods and horse riding at Ricochet Ridge in Mendocino.
Edwina actually lost her Jan Logan diamond earring when canoeing on Big River! She was forced to go searching for it with a magnetic fishing rod… fingers crossed she finds it!
