Agents and suppliers are gathering in the Melbourne, the home town of Magellan Travel Group for its’ National Conference to be held at The Sofitel Hotel.
The Pre-Conference fun began on Wednesday with The Magellan Master’s Golf Day held at The Victoria Golf Club, sponsored by Royal Caribbean International.
While everyone was out playing golf, the first business events got underway with GMs of Magellan Agencies gathering for their own networking and information sharing session, sponsored by Malaysia Airlines.
Andrew Macfarlane, Magellan CEO, said things have come along way since the company first launched back in 2008 with only 30 people attending the first conference.
This year, around 250 members and suppliers will attend the three-day event to hear about all the latest from the group.
“Once again we have over 80 percent of Members attending and they will be inspired and informed as well as enjoying the opportunity to engage and celebrate with fellow members and preferred suppliers alike.”

“It’s been a big year for us. Continuing member growth, record profit growth and winning Best Non Branded Agency Group at this year’s National Travel Industry Awards and we’re really looking forward to celebrating with our Members and sharing our plans for the future.”
As well as hearing from the group’s big guys, Member Agencies will also have the chance to interact and learn off each other.
According to Macfarlane, agents face the same challenges and opportunities on a day-to-day basis and providing sessions just for them will help promote ‘best practice’.
“Providing a session just for them, independent of their Agency Owner Principals, is a great way for them to discuss the different approaches and solutions they apply in their Agencies and, ultimately, share best practice,” he said.
