NTIA 2015 winners: Infinity Holidays' success story

Flight Centre's Infinity Holidays walked away from the NTIA 2015  awards a winner, taking out two of the 37 awards handed out at the Gala Dinner.

Flight Centre’s Infinity Holidays walked away from the NTIA 2015  awards a winner, taking out two of the 37 awards handed out at the Gala Dinner.

This year, the group took the title for ‘Best Wholesaler’ in both the Domestic and International categories.

Speaking to KarryOn, Infinity Holidays’ spokesperson Dougal Bain attributed the double win to the company’s focus on retail partners as well as its dedication to being experts.

“We also keep the end customer in sight at all times and provide the products and experiences that the customer wants to book.”

Dougal Bain, Infinity Holidays Spokesperson

“We continue to make sure we reinvest in ways to help our retail partners and appeal to the end customer.”

“We create tailored holidays designed by experts.”

What does winning the award mean for Infinity Holidays?

It provides tangible evidence that Infinity constantly listens to our partners and have identified what they need and want.

It is an affirmation that our core values are correctly aligned and justifies the hard work the Infinity family has put in over the last 12 months and more, that is cause for celebration!

Luxury and cultural travel is definitely more common.

People want a travel experience that is more tailored to them.

Destinations that were quite backpacker oriented such as Vietnam and Cambodia are now starting to be seen as valid options by the average traveller.

Of course luxury is a lot more affordable in Asia and we just happen to be positioned perfectly, in a geographic sense, to take advantage of that.

What’s coming up innovation wise?

We are working on tours etc that can be paid for in Australia, booked with reputable operators and then booked in-destination.

This gives people both piece of mind and flexibility.

Infinity is working on a number of ways to make our travel experiences more personal and in conjunction with FCTG’s soon to be introduced product range, which includes Escapes, Journeys and Mix and Match Collection, we’ll have a great platform with which to do that.

What’s the biggest opportunity for travel right now?

Once again Infinity has taken out the Best Wholesaler award for both International & Australia at the annual NTIA awards! Thank you to everyone who voted and otherwise supported us, it is very humbling.

Taking advantage of the luxury/cultural/food touring market.

The Australian economy is in pretty good shape and people still have a fair bit of disposable income.

Gen X and Y are likely to spend a higher proportion of their income on experiences than material possessions and they want to have an authentic experience, adventure and a bit of luxury throw in.

Of course the popularity of cooking reality TV shows like Masterchef and MKR fits perfectly with this demographic.

In general we need to be price competitive but at the same time capitalise on the quality & unique selling points of any travel experience we sell.

We are the experts and we need talk up the value we add to any travel experience.

We are a bricks and mortar business and we provide a service that shouldn’t be undervalued.

Then there is Cruise of course, it continues to grow apace and for the less adventurous, cruises offer great value and an opportunity to truly get away from it all.
