How does one become the best in their field? It’s not an easy task yet Nicole Hay from Show Group Enterprise managed to do it by remaining passionate and providing diligent service to each customer.
As a result, Nicole Hay was named ‘Best Travel Consultant//Corporate’ at the 2018 National Travel Industry Awards (NTIAs) earlier this month.

Nicole Hay told KARRYON that she believes her success emerged from always putting customers first and going the extra mile on every booking.
She continued, recommending that other consultants ensure they’re passionate and confident about their job, if they hope to achieve the same level of success.

It is such an amazing feeling and an honour to be recognised for a job you love. It means that all the hard work and sometimes long hours is worth it.
What are some little or big touches you (and/or the team) make to ensure you leave a positive impression on your clients?
Myself and the team always make sure we go the extra mile for our clients and think outside the box for them. We make sure we never have a too hard attitude to their requests.
I have also personally worked on location for my clients whether it be spending time in their office when a large project is on or going on the road with a tour to make sure all flights and hotel check-ins go smoothly.
What are some changes you may have made over the last year that would have contributed to your success this year?
I can’t think of anything specific as I have always worked in the same manner to make sure my clients are happy and all their travel needs are met.
What would you recommend to others hoping to win this award in future years?
Just be yourself and be confident in what you do. If you are passionate and proud it will come across in your work every day and to the Judges if you go for this award.
What do you love about the industry?
I love that it is forever changing. Every day is a new request and challenge so it is never boring. I also love the people I get to work with every day.
I have been lucky enough in my career to work in different areas of travel from Airlines to Retail to Corporate travel. So it has given me a great opportunity to experience all aspects of the industry.
Travelling makes people happy, and knowing you had a hand it making it happened is very rewarding.
What do you think the future holds for the travel industry?
I think for Corporate travel it will probably get slightly harder with more internet suppliers and specials coming out and the client being more tech savvy to book direct.
That said in the entertainment side where I’m based, there will always be bands touring, films being made and TV productions ongoing. So I think it will just get stronger and stronger.
What’s your advice for people thinking of joining the industry
I think if you have a passion for travel then it is the right job. It is not always easy, however if you are a willing to go the extra mile for you client it is very rewarding.
As mentioned every day is different and it is never boring or mundane. There is a sense of Buzz about travel experiences you can create for your client.
