Schoolies.com had its own Kim Kardashian with a bottle of champagne moment this week when its website was so popular among school leavers it practically broke.

According to the travel brand’s Chief Executive, the website crashed yesterday afternoon, minutes after opening bookings for 2018 events.

Matt Lloyd said bookings started flooding in at 4.00pm and thousands of trips were sold within the first 10 minutes. However, the excessive number of requests strained the system and it crashed minutes later.

IT staff were called in to bring the site back to full strength while schoolies.com staff remained busy taking bookings over the phone.

“I can’t recall a start as enthusiastic as this one happening before.”

Lloyd continued, saying that the annual school leavers event is growing every year, particularly as options become more varies and “sophisticated”.
