Remember when a certain online booking site tried to convince consumers that Travel Agents were limiting their flight options and in turn withholding potential deals from them?
Well, now agents have a little ammunition to use against such blasphemy thanks to a new study which proves consumers are saving hundreds through consultants.
A report released by the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) found agents help travellers save an average of $452 per trip as well as four hours in travel planning time.
So, agents are not only saving them money BUT saving them time.
Research results from ‘Best of Both Worlds: Quantifying How Travel Agents Save Consumers Time and Money’ also found holidaymakers booking through agents were also less likely to suffer from costly mistakes both in the planning process and on the road.
Good work!
Around 63 percent of consumers polled agreed that using an agent improved their overall trip experience, while 64% believed agents found them better deals.
“This study dispels the myth that booking direct with suppliers or spending hours online yourself gets you a better deal, or gives you a happier travel experience.”
