Travel Counsellors 'smash' a new record

Travel Counsellors' business is growing physically and numerically after 'smashing' an old record and experiencing the company's highest sales day in 20 years.

Travel Counsellors’ business is growing physically and numerically after ‘smashing’ an old record and experiencing the company’s highest sales day in 20 years.

The announcement comes a week after the agency group officially launched franchise operations in Western Australia.

The company said that on 16 January this year, it achieved a global sales total of $5.4 million. That’s over $500,000 more than the previous best sale day in January 2014 of $4.9 million.

Travel Counsellors also achieved a new company record by securing the top four selling days in its history in 2015 with combined sales of over $20.7 million.

The company had its busiest sales period in January this year.

Of the individual agents, 10 percent of Australian Travel Counsellors experienced their best sales month ever in January and 13 percent achieved their highest ever monthly commission total.

According to the company, a specific area of growth was in cruise, which increased 36 percent compared to bookings last year.

Matraville based Travel Counsellor Carla Conroy, who celebrated her best ever sales month in January, said she saw growth after launching the new Quote and Book system.

She said it allows her to tailor make customer itineraries while controlling the margin.

“Customers are definitely looking positively into 2015 and planning ahead, but also want to book their holiday with an agent they can trust and who can deliver a really personal service, and that is something I build my business on.”

Earlier this month, Travel Counsellors launched a major worldwide sales incentive, sponsored by Royal Caribbean, with over 1,350 Travel Counsellors participating to win a seven-night Caribbean cruise.

The ‘TC Royal Cocktails of the Caribbean’ saw 32 teams competing in the incentive, with agents winning rounds for their teams based on bookings made.

The challenge was dubbed a huge success and a great way to encourage the company’s agents to succeed in the busy January month, whilst having fun and creating a strong sense of camaraderie across the worldwide network.

Travel Counsellors’ Steve Byrne said although January is traditionally a busy booking period, achieving record sales demonstrates the company’s dedication to “supporting agents and helping them to drive sales”.

The company operates in Australia, UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, South Africa, Canada and Dubai with global sales for the financial year end (31 October 2014) at $819 million, an 11 percent increase on the previous year.

Congratulations Travel Counsellors!
