Two companies stripped of ATAS accreditation

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) has today altered ATAS Accreditation for two businesses - Railbookers Australia and Australian Escapes Marketing.

The Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) has today altered ATAS Accreditation for two businesses – Railbookers Australia and Australian Escapes Marketing.

According to an AFTA update, Railbookers Australia’s accreditation was suspended with immediate effect after reports that the business’ parent company was acquired by the US rail and package tour specialist, Yankee Leisure Group.

The acquisition is believed to have also included the sale of Railbookers’ sister brand, Travel Definitions, which allegedly ceased trading this week, TTG Travel reported.

Yankee Leisure Group said it has been working with the tailored train holidays company since 2008 and expects no impact to customers.

Railbookers

The only major change during the acquisition was the appointment of former Cosmos Product and Sales Director, Peter Traynor, to Railbookers’ MD.

Meanwhile, AFTA has also altered accreditation for the Australian Escapes Marketing, which the Federation believes currently has a “managed process in place for the business’ voluntary closure”.

“AFTA is currently investigating the matter but believes that there is a managed process in place for the business’ voluntary closure.”

AFTA

As a result, AFTA has cancelled Australian Escapes Marketing’s ATAS accreditation with immediate effect.

KarryOn has attempted to contact Australian Escapes Marketing for comment.
