Welcome to a new era of KARRYON: New GM, new logo & new ideas!

You've heard of the Emancipation of Mimi, the Revival of Eminem and the Revolution of The Beatles... Now it's time to dip into the evolution of KARRYON.

You’ve heard of the Emancipation of Mimi, the Revival of Eminem and the Revolution of The Beatles… Now it’s time to dip into the evolution of KARRYON.

While the world partied on into the new year, the team at Australia’s favourite online travel publication, KARRYON, was hard at work devising a game-changing plan to reshape the way travel news is presented and consumed.

Designed to make the publication and overall business ‘bigger and better’, while delivering on some in-demand reader requests, the five-step plan was carried out in secret over the first two weeks of the year and is now officially ready to be unveiled.

Step 1. Meet KARRYON’s new General Manager

Anthony Valeriano, GM KARRYON

Anthony Valeriano, GM KARRYON

You may remember him from his younger years as a Sales Manager at Explore Holidays, or maybe you did business with him during the six years he expertly raised the profile of travel website e-Travel Blackboard.

There’s a high chance too that you may have crossed paths with him while he headed up Sales and Marketing at Travelzoo or the three years he spent leading supplier relationships at Rezdy.

It’s Anthony Valeriano, who has extensive industry experience (clearly), a collective of industry contacts, and the innovative leadership skills to take KARRYON to the next level in its fifth year.

In his role as General Manager of KARRYON, Valeriano will work alongside the company’s Founder, Matt Leedham, to manage the team, build the publication’s readership, deliver fun and unique content for readers, oversee the growth of KARRYON Jobs, and spearhead new initiatives that will take the travel industry by storm.

Valeriano said he’s excited to join a disruptive company where the “energetic and positive team” genuinely cares about the industry and knows “how to have fun while engaging with readers”.

“I love what KARRYON is about and how disruptive it has been within the industry,” he said.

“Fun relatable news and engaging, useful information is what the industry is responding to and I want to encourage more of this.”

Although still new to the gig, Valeriano said he’s already thoroughly enjoying the job and is keen to reconnect with others in the industry.

KARRYON Founder, Matt Leedham said of Valeriano’s appointment.

“Anthony’s joining the business as General Manager represents an extremely exciting milestone in our rapidly evolving travel media journey. Anthony already has a fantastic reputation in the travel industry and brings a wealth of experience and skills that I know will enable him to thrive in leading the team to fulfil KARRYON’s full potential.”

Step 2. Check out the new logo

After months of testing it out across our social media pages, KARRYON is ready to make its new-look official.

We’ve modernised and brightened our logo by replacing the previous matte colour with a bold deep pink, to make the brand pop out from the rest.

The iconic ‘K’ has been adjusted with cleaner lines, while the format has now changed from the square to a circle, giving the brand a ‘globe’ feel.

Step 5. And there’s so much more to come in 2018…

Karryon-2018

As a publication that’s created our own unique style and tone from day one, it’s been interesting to see some of our competitors blatantly copying our formula in recent months.

So many of you have actually taken the time to write in and tell us as much which has been amazing. Seriously – we absolutely love you for it.

As they say though, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” and so we plan to ramp up the game yet again this year with some huge plans and exciting developments for 2018 across a number of areas to forge on ahead.

More on that soon…

In the meantime though, on behalf of all of the team, we’d like to say a massive THANK YOU to all of you for your continued support and involvement in making KARRYON the success and fun ride its been so far.

Here’s to an amazing 2018 because remember – It’s the year of the Travel Agent!

Join us in congratulating Anthony on his new role & let us know what you think of the changes below.
