Qantas has a new partner airline in the Middle East

Qantas trade partners now have a new Middle Eastern connection, with Oman Air officially joining the oneworld alliance as its 15th member airline.

Qantas trade partners now have a new Middle Eastern connection, with Oman Air officially joining the oneworld alliance as its 15th member airline.

Effective 1 July 2025, Oman Air becomes a full member of oneworld, enabling reciprocal frequent flyer benefits and access to the alliance’s wider global schedule of more than 900 destinations.

The move gives Qantas Frequent Flyers and oneworld customers access to Oman Air’s global network of 42 destinations across 22 countries, and strengthens the alliance’s footprint across the Gulf region.

For agents, that means more reward seat opportunities and streamlined ticketing through Qantas and the oneworld network, particularly for travellers connecting to Oman, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

The announcement also coincides with the launch of Oman Air’s new nonstop Muscat–Amsterdam service, enhancing Europe-bound options for Australian travellers.

What benefits are included for Qantas and oneworld customers?

Eligible Qantas Frequent Flyers and other oneworld Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby members will gain access to a range of benefits when flying with Oman Air, including:

  • Earning and redeeming Qantas Points and Status Credits
  • Priority check-in, boarding and baggage handling
  • Lounge access, including Oman Air’s flagship Muscat International Airport Business Class Lounge, which recently earned APEX WORLD CLASS by YATES+ status

Oman Air’s top tier customers will receive reciprocal access to similar oneworld benefits, including entry to more than 700 premium lounges globally, such as new oneworld-branded lounges at Amsterdam Schiphol and Seoul Incheon.

A boost to Gulf connectivity

According to oneworld CEO Nat Pieper, the addition of Oman Air expands the alliance’s reach across the Gulf and South Asia, and aligns with the alliance’s focus on delivering premium experiences.

“Oman Air brings valuable strategic reach and award-winning product and service to the alliance,” he said.

“This partnership opens up exciting new connections for our customers, particularly across the Gulf and South Asia, and reinforces oneworld’s position as the premium alliance for international travellers.”

Oman Air’s product and global footprint

Operating from its hub in Muscat, Oman Air flies to destinations including London, Frankfurt, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Zanzibar. The airline operates a fleet of Boeing 737s and 787 Dreamliners, offering three cabin classes, including Business Studio private suites on select long-haul routes.

Oman Air has received multiple international awards for its in-flight experience and service, including Best Food & Beverage and Best Cabin Service in the Middle East at the APEX 2025 Awards.

Oman Air CEO Con Korfiatis said joining the alliance was a significant milestone.

“Oman Air is honoured to be joining the oneworld alliance, whose members and global footprint represent the best of what international travellers want to experience,” he said.

“We are thrilled to be able to welcome oneworld customers to the Sultanate of Oman to experience our unique culture, stunning mountain excursions, beautiful beaches, and, above all, the warm hospitality of the Omani people.”
