In great news for Western Australia – and for Aussie travellers looking to connect across the country – QantasLink will launch two new interstate routes from Perth this spring, with direct flights to Newcastle and Hobart set to take off in September 2025.
This is the first time QantasLink has flown between Perth and Newcastle – making it the only carrier to link the two ports – and the first time since 2023 it’s offered direct Perth-Hobart flights.
Both routes will run three times a week, on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, with launch fares from $299 one-way until 2 June 2025 (or until sold out).

Expected to benefit both leisure travellers and the fly-in fly-out workforce, the Perth-Newcastle service kicks off on 8 September and will add over 45,000 seats a year.
Flights between Perth and Hobart begin 26 September and will operate most months, adding around 32,000 extra seats annually.
“We’re really proud to continue our support for Western Australia’s resource and tourism sectors, with our newest QantasLink routes linking Perth to Hobart once more and Perth to Newcastle for the first time,” QantasLink CEO Rachel Yangoyan said.
“These direct services will not only boost inbound visitors to WA but offer more opportunities for those working in the resource sectors across the country with improved options for their travel.”

Perth Airport Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer Kate Holsgrove said, “The new routes will provide a convenient option for both business and leisure travellers”.
“The introduction of new domestic services shows Qantas Group’s commitment to Western Australia and growing its network into Perth Airport, Australia’s western gateway,” she remarked.
“Perth Airport has worked in partnership with Qantas, Newcastle Airport, Destination NSW, Hobart Airport, Tourism Tasmania and Tourism WA to grow aviation connections into Perth, boosting tourism and trade and supporting economic development.
“It’s great news for Australia’s tourism industry as the services will promote increased visitation to Western Australia from New South Wales and Tasmania and will also provide a direct link for Western Australians wanting to discover Tasmania and northern NSW.”

The new connections will also boost access to the Qantas Group’s expanding international network from Perth, including seasonal services to London, Paris and Rome.
Both routes will be operated by QantasLink’s 150-seat Airbus A319 aircraft. Passengers can expect complimentary checked baggage, inflight meals and access to Q Streaming entertainment on their own devices.
