By konadmin11 Jun 2014Reho Travel, one of Australia’s leading travel management companies, today announced that B Lab, the B Corporation certification body, has recognised Reho Travel as a Certified B Corporation™.A B Corporation is a new type of company which uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. What is a B Corporation? In order to be recognised as a Certified B Corporation, Reho Travel had to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance and expand its corporate responsibilities to include consideration of stakeholder interests.Unlike traditional corporations, Certified B Corporations are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their employees, suppliers, community, consumers, and environment. Long term this will lead to a legally recognised new corporate form. In order to achieve the B Corporation certification, Reho Travel participated in an assessment process established by B Lab, the B Corporation certification body. The assessment included frank disclosure of information relating to Reho Travels’ operations, hiring and promotion procedures, environmental management practices, and governance.“We’re proud to be only the 2nd travel management company in the world to become a Certified B Corporation. “B Corps are important because they inspire all businesses to compete not only to be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world.” said Karsten Horne, Managing Director of Reho Travel. “Applying for certification was a no-brainer for us as we felt the movement reflected our values and provided a strong framework from which to expand on our ideas on how we can make a positive difference to the world.”Reho Travel is also committed to influencing the entire travel industry in considering the whole supply chain. According to Karsten “We would like to see an industry where customers are choosing an airline for its low fuel consumption, a hotel in the developing world for its labour practices, a tour company that involves the local community and arranges them all with a travel agency that has the awareness and experience to guide them toward suppliers that have a positive impact on the world.”Reho Travel is a featured company in the upcoming ROI&I Study Tour, where participants have a unique opportunity to get inside the hearts and minds of leaders of companies for whom having a noble cause is central to their theme of making money.[youtube id=”YrZD5Jeut6I” width=”620″ height=”360″] Other stories you may likeSURPRISE PARTY!: Celebrate with Wendy Wu Tours and WIN a mystery trip to AsiaBLUE-SKY THINKING: 5 reasons Scoot is shaking up low-cost carriersMUSIC TO OUR EARS: Check out the new Delta Air Lines B777 & win a trip to the GRAMMY Awards® ceremony!
