Like most of us lucky enough to work in the travel industry, Reho Travel CEO Karsten Horne spends the majority of his life exploring the world, so it’s understandable that he’s feeling a tad caged whilst in isolation right now.
So what is Karsten Horne doing about it? Well, off the back of a Channel Nine reporter allegedly telling him he has a talent for TV, he has branched out with a new video series called Rehome Travel.
The episodes come with the apt tagline “Just like you, we are not going anywhere.”
In this first episode (which you can watch below) he takes viewers into his home to show us some of his favourite souvenirs, from the scarab beetle he bartered for whilst sitting on the back of a small donkey in Egypt through to an Elvis babushka doll he purchased in Memphis.
The entire video is done in a single shot, with credit going to his literally, inhouse production team – Bubble Productions which is run by his daughter Sheridan and her partner Nick.
Karsten assures us that it was totally unscripted, given nobody is quite sure of what is going to come out of his mouth, and especially for him, it was highly risky.
We have been told, that this was a nightmare for the camera operators who did an amazing job in capturing the content whilst, we assume maintaining social distancing
The video carries both a strong message and a challenge.
During his new series, Karsten reminds the industry that although we can’t travel right now, we really should keep telling stories and sharing memories with our clients.
He says it’s our role as the travel industry to keep the enthusiasm up around the value of travelling.
He also challenges us to find creative ways to remind our clients that we are great travellers with much knowledge to share with them
If any of you in the industry would like to take us into your homes and share some of your travel memories Karsten will feature the best ones on across social media.
