Reunited: Virgin Australia, Singapore Airlines resume codeshare flights

Virgin Australia passengers will now be able to travel more seamlessly between Australia and other parts of the world following the resumption of codeshare flights with Singapore Airlines today.

Virgin Australia passengers will now be able to travel more seamlessly between Australia and other parts of the world following the resumption of codeshare flights with Singapore Airlines today.

After Velocity Frequent Flyer and KrisFlyer redemption bookings and points conversions resumed earlier in the year, the announcement returns the alliance partners back to their full, pre-pandemic relationship.

Under the agreement, Virgin flyers have access to 42 destinations across 23 countries on the Singapore network, including Ho Chi Minh City, Seoul, Rome, Amsterdam and London.

Conversely, Singapore Airlines passengers will be able to fly to 31 destinations across the Virgin domestic and international network, including recently added Queenstown in New Zealand.

More destinations will be added to the codeshare deal in the coming weeks subject to regulatory approval.

“Singapore Airlines has been a valued partner of Virgin Australia for well over a decade and we are excited to resume the sale of codeshare flights, creating a more seamless booking experience for our customers,” Virgin Australia Group Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer Alistair Hartley said.

“Expanding our partnership with Singapore Airlines means we are able to offer our loyal customers more choice and value when travelling internationally, creating more ways to see the world, through wonderful travel experiences on Singapore Airlines.”

With the carriers partners since 2011, Singapore Airlines Senior Vice President Marketing Planning JoAnn Tan said, “the return of the VA code on SIA flights provides even more opportunities for Australians to seamlessly explore the world, no matter where they are based”.

“As more countries across Asia remove travel restrictions, it also opens up Australia to travellers from these regions,” she added.

Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines extended their tie-up for a further five years in 2022.

Virgin recently launched a new brand and advertising campaign, including a Middle Seat Lottery.
