Three days in and already, the ‘Save The Travel Industry’ message is going strong and it’s all down to you; our incredible Travel & Tourism community.

Yesterday Karryon and Australian travel industry leaders teamed up to launch Save The Travel Industry – a national campaign that aims to pressure the Australian government to extend support to the tourism industry after JobKeeper ends on 28 March.

So, it has been 72 hours… what’s the latest?

An exciting update

Last Call Hero

Since launching the campaign on Monday we have now clocked up almost 20,000 signatures to the petition which is AMAZING!

Seriously, this campaign is going OFF and we are stoked about it.

Today, a #SaveTheTravelIndustry article was published on Smart Company and our video made it onto the news.com.au homepage, where it will be seen by millions.

The #SaveTheTravelIndustry campaign is another welcome activation in pushing for that support and complements AFTA’s ongoing work in raising political awareness within an appreciative framework of our sector’s desperate need for support including through the extension of a version of JobKeeper for our sector and finessing of the $128m Grants Support Program.”

Darren Rudd, AFTA CEO

AFTA CEO Darren Rudd is in Canberra this week to meet with a range of Cabinet Ministers including the Tourism Minister, the Hon Dan Tehan and other key influencers.

AFTA’s political engagement priorities continue to be:

  • Refinement of the implementation approach of the Federal Government Travel Support Program
  • The need for a re-purposed, renamed JobKeeper from 1 April for the sector
  • Ensuring understanding that recent Federal Government initiatives to drive domestic holidays boost consumer confidence rather than driving any meaningful financial or revenue benefits for travel agents, travel wholesalers or tour operators who rely on Australians travelling overseas.

Let’s keep working together to make sure Government understands that until international borders reopen, the industry needs ongoing tailored support.

How can you help?

You can support the cause by; downloading the online campaign toolkit, sharing the #SaveTheTravelIndustry creative assets on social media and your own marketing channels.

You can also sign and share the change.org petition.

Please do what you can to help your peers by boosting the campaign because every action, no matter how small it may seem, will collectively add up to a far greater groundswell.

“We’re really seeing the word getting out there and people doing what they can to get the message out to Australians, because this is as much about consumers as it is about the industry,”

Matt Leedham, Founder of Karryon and Travel To Change The World

Thanks so much for your support.
