Hello Kitty Land in Tokyo will be showing its darker side this Halloween as cute and scary join forces to create some spine-tingling experiences that fans will go wild for.

From this Friday, September 13 through to Thursday, October 31 2019, the Japanese theme park will be hosting its Halloween party known as “Kawaii Masquerade”.

Like previous years, visitors can enjoy two separate event styles, the Kawaii Masquerade at daytime and the much spookier nighttime version.

During the day, Lady Kitty House changes to a beautiful dollhouse with special photo spots. At the Wisdom tree, visitors can meet and greet some of their favourite characters, dressed in Halloween costumes.

A new Halloween menu offers a dishes coloured in black and purple including Cinnamon’s black Halloween Ramen or PomPomPurin’s Masquerade doughnuts with pumpkin cream.

As the day turns to night, the goosebumps will rise as the Halloween event changes to a scarier night time setting.

At weekends Lady Kitty House will turn into the “Horror Doll House”, which opens only 1 hour before closing time.

The scariest part of the Halloween event is the “Ghost Pierrot Masquerade” at the Discovery Theatre, showing a play created in collaboration with Japanese horror production company, Obaken.

The event (which is open to over 10s only) will be filled with unexpected and creepy turns.

“Celebrating Halloween is getting increasingly popular for all age groups in Japan and people enjoy it as a time to simply have fun”, says Yuya Makizato of Sanrio Entertainment, the Hello Kitty Land Tokyo operator.
