2. Travelmarvel expands European river program

Travelmarvel Europe

Travelmarvel is offering travellers nine new extended itineraries and early booking deals as part of its recently released 2016 European River Cruise program.

On shelves now, the brochure continues to feature Travelmarvel’s bestselling 15-day European Gems and 15-day Rhine and Rhône itineraries as its core offering.

The itinerary takes guests to five countries, including Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands.

In addition to seeing European favourites, the itinerary also features ‘Travelmarvel Insider Experiences’ such as a visit to the 19th-century Drachenburg Castle; the chance to visit a local family home in Wertheim for coffee, cake and a slice of local culture; and a private ‘Oktoberfest’.

Responding to guest demand for longer and more immersive itineraries, Travelmarvel has added different land extensions to the European Gems and Rhine and Rhône river cruises to create nine new itineraries.

Among the new itineraries is a 22-day Battlefields and European Gems River Cruise.

Travelling from Paris to Prague guests take in Caen and Amiens, the beaches and memorials of the World War II Normandy landings, The Australian Memorial at Bullecourt and a visit to Frommelles prior to setting sail on a two week European Gems river cruise.

3. The Golden Rules of South America with Contiki

Contiki Latin America

Unique and authentic experiences without ‘roughing’ it out like the generations before. That’s what the modern youth traveller is seeking and it’s what Contiki says it’s delivering in its new South America program.

Released last week, the 2015-17 Latin America brochure is designed with the new millennial traveller in mind and features itineraries that feature the ‘three golden rules’ – internal flights (to reduce travel time between destinations); centrally located quality accommodation; and plenty of good food.

To help clients choose the right itinerary for them, the company has split its itineraries into different adventure levels: Discovery Plus – 10-37 days with more highlights as well as unique overnight stays; and High Energy – six-13 days featuring amazing nightlife and high energy experience.

There’s also the ‘In-depth Explorer’ – seven-14 day itineraries taking in more of each country with more local guides and meals; plus Easy Pace – one to six days for travellers seeking more relaxed tours.

And for the party goers there’s the Festivals & Short Stays – one trip running for five days and taking travellers to Rio Carnival.

Among the itineraries is a new eight-day Ultimate Inca adventure, which features an added four-day Inca Trail trek.

Due to the high demand and restricted amount of Inca Trail permits issued each day, Contiki has created a special ‘flexible itinerary’, where the days of the trek may vary, to ensure the group can travel together.
