SHOCKER: Millennials are a "fast-growing" group of clients for Travel Agents

They may not be the biggest spenders and they may not require much assistance, but millennials ARE aware of the importance of using a Travel Agent.

They may not be the biggest spenders and they may not require much assistance, but millennials ARE aware of the importance of using a Travel Agent.

Not one, but three industry reports found that the independent and tech-savvy generation of millennials are avoiding online sites and using Travel Agents for their holiday bookings.

The 2017 Portrait of American Travelers found that 33 percent of millennials have plans to utilise a professional consultant over the next two years – that’s twice as many as those in Generation X and Baby Boomers, TravelAndLeisure reported.

A study conducted for the “How America Travels” report, discovered that 44 percent of millennials see traditional consultants “worth it”, more than the 33 and 34 percent in older generations.

And finally, there’s Virtuoso research, which described millennials as a “fast-growing” group of clients for Travel Agents because of increasing interest in doing business with them.

Virtuoso’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, Terrie Hansen, told media that agencies are doing “really well” with affluent millennials. However, they’re not yet as big spenders as the Baby Boomers.

“Boomers still hold the majority of spend, total budget.”
