Warm up the wrists because there’ll be a lot of tapping & going on your next visit to New York City where the destination’s first outlet shopping centre officially opened this week.

It’s hard to be that the city renowned for its fashion from high-end couture to edgy street style, has only just received its first outlet centre. But alas, it’s true.

Empire Outlets opened its doors on Staten Island – steps away from the Staten Island Ferry – this week, with some 100 retail and dining experiences inside 350,000-square-foot of space.

Described as a “shopping destination”, Empire Outlets houses new boutiques as well as reimagined icons that cater to “every kind of shopper”.

Brands that’ll have shoppers whipping out the credit card include the Nike Factory Story (oh yeah, new sneakers!), Nordstrom Rack, Banana Republic Factory, Gap Factory, Cotton On and the Guess Factory.

There’s also an H&M inside, along with Levi’s, US Polo Association and an artisanal food hall.

To top it all off, the centre has picture-perfect views of Lower Manhattan and is free to access via the free year-round ferry.

Empire Outlets is one of the latest retail additions to arrive in New York City this year. It follows the recent opening of 100 luxury, flagship and specialty stores at the newly launched neighbourhood, Hudson Yards.
