Singapore Airlines’ flight SQ28 took off from Singapore to Seattle yesterday, nearly 10 months after the new route was announced for the APAC carrier.

Travellers on the inaugural service were given exclusive goodie bags made up of Singapore Airlines-branded pens, passport covers and notepads. They also had special photo-ops with cabin crew at the boarding gate and were welcomed by a water-cannon salute at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Initially, Seattle services will operate three times weekly. This will increase to four times weekly from October 2019.

Flight SQ28 departs Singapore at 9.25am every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to arrive in Seattle at 9.05am the same day (local time). SQ27 departs Seattle at 10.40am on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to touch down in Changi at 5.30pm.

The fourth service will operate on Sundays.

WHAT TYPE OF ON BOARD EXPERIENCE CAN I EXPECT?

Singapore-Seattle services are being operated on the A350-900. This gives travellers access to 42 seats in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy and 187 in Economy.

Each guest will have access to “advanced technology” and “improved experience” through higher ceilings, larger windows, wider body and jetlag aiding cabin lighting.

There are also Canyon Rach initiatives such as sleep strategies and guided stretch exercises available via KrisWorld in-flight entertainment, and cuisine curated by the wellness brand’s chefs and nutritionists.

Even more exciting, from 3-14 September 2019, the airline is offering Premium Economy and Economy passengers access to complimentary 30MB wi-fi messaging service.

In total, there are 31 non-stop services from Singapore to the US. However, frequency increases to 57 per week when combined with the airline’s one-stop services to Houston, Los Angeles, New York (JFK) and San Francisco.
