Huge news from the Carnival Cruise Line camp – the brand boarded its ONE MILLIONTH Aussie guest this week, a milestone achieved in less than six years.

“It’s an exciting time,” cheered Carnival Cruise Line Australia’s Vice President, Jennifer Vandekreeke, as she relayed the exciting news to staff, media and industry professionals onboard Carnival Spirit – the first Carnival ship to visit Australia – on Monday morning.

Hosting a million Aussies was an “honour and a thrill” for Vandekreeke, who appreciated the trust each cruiser put in the cruise line every time they used their “precious Australian holiday” on a Carnival ship.

“Every Australian guest we host is one in a million, and we endeavour to deliver fun, memorable holidays for each and every one.”

But it’s only the beginning.

Carnival’s expecting guest numbers to continue climbing as the line prepares for Carnival Splendor‘s arrival in December this year when she’ll be Australia’s newest and largest ship. Additionally, Carnival Spirit will move to Brisbane in October 2020 to be the first-ever Carnival vessel homeported in the city.

Meanwhile, hosting one million Australian guests has transformed Carnival Cruise Line into quite the expert in Aussie cruisers & believes these to be their four favourite things at sea:

1. They love New Caledonia’s Isle of Pines

The South Pacific is undoubtedly Australia’s favourite place to cruise (just ask CLIA, they’ll confirm), but if you’re being specific, their favourite island is New Caledonia’s pristine Isle of Pines.

2. And they love adults-only areas

Adults-only areas are popping up more and more across cruise ships and for a good reason – adults LOVE them. Especially, Aussie adults.

3. Melting chocolate cake is their favourite dessert

DROOL! Do we really need to say more?

We don’t, but we will note that 3.2 million Chocolate Melting Cakes were consumed across Carnival Cruise Line’s ships over six years.

4. And they enjoy a good water slide

That unmissable giant green slide – aka the Green Thunder – on Carnival’s ships is one of the more popular attractions onboard and has been used one million times since its debut in Australia.
