Solomon Airlines is driving more travellers to visit the island state via Australia, with new direct services between Sydney and Honiara.
Commencing 2 June 2015 (subject to regulatory agreement), Sydney flights will be the airline’s second direct service out of Australia, with flights from Brisbane already operating weekly.
As well as targeting Australian visitors, which are currently one of the airline’s biggest markets, the move will also encourage more travellers from the US to visit the Solomons via Australia.

The US is one of the Solomon Islands’ biggest tourism markets, with the majority flying to the destination via Fiji.
However, last year’s diplomatic fall-out and cancellation of flights between Fiji and Solomon Airlines heavily impacted international visitor arrivals to the destination, particularly those from the US market.
And although an agreement three weeks ago saw Fiji Airways and Solomon Airlines agree to resume services between the two island-states, additional flights via Australia will give passengers more choice for travel to the Solomons.

New flights will give travellers visiting the Islands more air choice.
Scheduled to operate ex-Honiara on Mondays and ex-Sydney on Tuesdays, the airline will herald the new service with a special AU$599 return fare inclusive of all taxes, in-flight meals and entertainment plus a generous 30 kilogram baggage allowance.
Solomon Airlines will utilise its Airbus A320 on the new route which has been specifically timed to offer seamless flight linkage between several Australian cities and also international connections.
