South Korea just dropped all testing requirements for international arrivals

From 1 October 2022, all international tourists entering South Korea are no longer required to take a PCR test on arrival.

From 1 October 2022, all international tourists entering South Korea are no longer required to take a PCR test on arrival.

While fully vaccinated tourists have been allowed to enter since April 2022, previously, a negative PCR test within 24 hours of arrival to South Korea was required on arrival.

The change sees the end of all COVID-19 testing requirements for tourists after the pre-departure PCR test/RAT was scrapped in September this year.

The changes have been implemented due to the decline in foreign introduced COVID-19 cases and the less fatal BA.5 becoming the dominant strain of the virus in the country.

The Ministry of Health says it will “continue to monitor the spread of COVID-19 and the severity of emerging strains and may re-introduce measures in future if circumstances require.”

If tourists still wish to be tested, with or without symptoms, they now have the option of taking a free PCR test within three days of arrival to South Korea.
