Sri Lanka is ready to welcome tourists back with open arms following on from the devastating Easter Sunday bombings back in April.

The nation’s tourism industry is still feeling the effects of the tragedy with tourism in Sri Lanka declining 57% in June this year compared to June 2018.

Exodus Travels wants to play a part in helping tourism flourish again and are encouraging agents to send their clients back to Sri Lanka by offering 15% off tours travelling through until 30th April 2020.

Lou Day, Australasia Territory Manager for Exodus said the decline in tourism on the island has caused “a huge blow to the 2.5 million residents whose livelihood depends either directly or indirectly on tourism”.

“We want to encourage Australians to now return to Sri Lanka,” Lou said.

Exodus believes as travellers return, it will have a positive contribution to the local economy for everyone from a tuk-tuk driver to a local guide or food and souvenir seller who all rely on tourist spending.
