Tik tik went the clock & Tok Tok wrapped up. Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) closed its 17th annual travel trade industry event late last month, which was described as the “most influential yet”.

The event started with a big Vanuatu welcome as buyers from key markets, including Australia, arrived into the nation’s capital Port Vila.

There they “answered the call of Vanuatu” on pre-famils during which they discovered all that’s new in the destination.

Then it was onto more formal preceedings in this year’s host venue – Warwick Le Lagon. It was here where local operators and international businesses spent the next few days connecting over their common goal – to sell, promote and further drive visitation to the islands.

Live local entertainment was heavily featured in this year’s itinerary along with specially crafted famils across Efate, Tanna and Espiritu Santo.

Everything came to an end on 31 August in Port Vila where the finale Gala dinner was held.

Vanuatu Tourism Office’s Chief Executive Officer, Adela Issachar Aru, said this year’s Tok Tok was particularly exciting because it highlighted the destination’s variety of adventures and coincided with the launch of VTO’s rebrand and marketing rally cry – Answer the Call of Vanuatu.

“Answer the Call of Vanuatu is more than just a campaign,” she explained. “Over time, it is our goal that it will become a way of doing business for the tourism industry and be integrated into a range of programs that improve the Vanuatu visitor experience – Tok Tok seemed only fitting to dovetail this announcement into.”

“Between strengthening existing relationships and building new connections, our Tok Tok attendees were among the first to see our new-and-improved brand videos, along with the opportunity to get a true taste of what we’re all about.”

This year’s event was also thanks to Tok Tok’s major sponsor Air Vanuatu, who were thrilled to have been involved in another successful Tourism Exchange event.
