After a deep slumber, the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland California will re-awake this week, with a fresh & illusive exterior & interior that’ll charm new & returning visitors.

Fairytale enthusiasts will be able to enter Disneyland’s famous attraction later this week, for the first time since January, when the magical castle closed for renovations.

The theme park’s centrepiece received a re-roofing, the first since 1955, as well as a layer of shimmering gold “pixie dust” over the familiar blue.

The castle’s colour scheme was refreshed to offer a more modern exterior while also remaining true to the original and memorable look, The Orange County Register reported.

Inside, colour has also been used to create an illusion that makes the castle seem taller than it is because according to Walt Disney Imagineering Art Director, Kim Irvine, the attraction itself will never receive more towers or be physically altered to be gigantic.

“She is the first. She is perfect just the way she is. She’s Walt’s castle, so she will always stay the same.”

Disneyland California’s Sleeping Beauty Castle is scheduled to officially reopen on 24 May, less than a week before the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – a Star Wars-themed land.
