Unsurprisingly, a survey of 1,000 people found the first three months of the year are the biggest downer for Aussies fresh from the summer and festive break. Almost 20 per cent admit feeling uninspired back at work and one-third long for new adventures.
The Travel Corporation (TTC), which includes tour operators Luxury Gold, Contiki, Trafalgar, Costsaver and Insight Vacations, surveyed over 1,000 Aussies in January, finding 68 per cent of respondents kicked off 2023 feeling uninspired while back at work.
The study also revealed that Aussies spend a staggering amount of time thinking about their next holiday. Of those who long for travel, 85 per cent admit to thinking about travel for up to three hours a day while at work.
Touring insights

Aussies are also keen to travel with purpose with 40 per cent looking for more authentic, richer or emotive experiences, while 58 per cent said they would go touring for their next holiday.
The report also revealed that Italy is the location that Australians most want to tour in the world with more than one-third saying it’s their destination of choice for 2023.
Respondents said touring allowed them to visit more unique locations (49%), travel with a tour guide and have more opportunities to see a new country (42%) and meet new people (35%).
The research showed travellers are looking for more connections to the places they’re visiting.
Contiki, Trafalgar, Costsaver, Insight Vacations and Luxury Gold Managing Director Toni Ambler agreed: “What is so great about touring is that travellers can explore so much more about the country they’re in while they’re on the ground.”
“With touring there’s an option for everyone, whether for those on a budget, like Costsaver, or those looking for more of a luxury and personalised experience, like Luxury Gold.”
