Intrepid Travel will launch its first standalone Albania expedition in September 2023 – a brand-new nine-day trip that will visit parts of the Balkan country rarely visited by tourists.

The new Intrepid Travel Albania expedition was created in partnership with ecotourism experiences group MEET Network and departs from the capital, Tirana, on 30 September 2023.

All MEET Experiences are nature-based, cultural experiences with a low ecological footprint and a maximised social impact that allow travellers to discover a new side of the Mediterranean.

This trip’s MEET experience is in Divjake-Karavasta National Park and includes a visit to the protected Karavasta Lagoon and a bird rehabilitation centre treating wild birds on their migratory route.

Albania has been soaring in popularity in recent years, thanks to its stunning and diverse landscapes of mountains and coastlines and fascinating culture.

Dubbed “Europe’s last unturned stone”, Albania focuses on alternative travel, promoting agritourism and ecotourism by encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in nature and meet local communities.

Intrepid Travel Managing Director EMEA Zina Bencheikh said this trip is an example of the B Corp’s commitment to providing sustainable, experience-rich trips to conscious travellers that have a positive impact on local communities.

“We‘re extremely proud of our partnership with MEET as their ethos of responsible travel aligns with our mission to create positive change through the joy of travel,” she said.

MEET President Alessandro Galli said: “We have worked tirelessly with our Albania partners to bring to life a totally new concept of tourism, based on fairness, local peculiarities and sustainability.”

“We are proud to be recognised by Intrepid and see Albania in the spotlight with such a high-quality, low-impact product.”
