Contiki is heading to this popular Asian nation for the first time ever in 2024

Contiki is set to ride the hallyu wave in 2024 when it debuts its first-ever South Korea trip in March 2024 due to popular demand. Surprisingly, it will also be the first youth tour operator to offer a trip to the trending Asian nation.

With the uptick of interest in K-everything among Zillennials, South Korea has become a popular culture powerhouse, said Contiki’s Asia Operations Director Taryn Walsh, who helped design the new itinerary.

“It’s now one of the most sought-after travel destinations among 18-35s globally, thanks to movies and TV shows such as Parasite and Squid Game, plus the rising popularity of K-pop and K-beauty,” she said.

The new nine-day South Korean Soul round-trip from Seoul has eight departures in 2024, priced from AUD$3,775 per person.

The itinerary features a trip to the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) over the border from North Korea and plenty of authentic cuisine, including a Korean barbecue dinner on the final night.

Travellers can also discover Busan by night on a private yacht, shop in Gangnam, watch a baseball game and star in their own K-pop music video.

Contiki Managing Director Toni Ambler said the company’s Asia bookings have increased by 264 per cent year on year.

“We are excited to respond to this increased demand and make South Korea more accessible to Aussie travellers,” she said.
