Intrepid Travel CEO James Thornton outlined the 2030 Strategy and four new company values at the Global Summit conference in Melbourne’s Federation Square on 1 March 2024, attended by 380 staff from more than 35 countries with an additional 3,000 team members tuning in via live stream.
Essentially, by 2030, Intrepid Travel aims to double its customers to 600,000 and achieve $1.3 billion in revenue with one per cent of that going to its purpose initiatives.
The six-year strategy focuses on connecting more people with Intrepid more often by expanding into new verticals, such as accommodation and publishing.
The 2030 Strategy is built on the concept of meaningful and lasting human connection by leveraging its existing global operational network and ensuring more local communities can benefit from tourism.
Additionally, the certified B Corp’s new company values are: ‘Ambitious’, ‘Impactful’, ‘Real’ and ‘Together’, developed by employee advocacy groups, or ‘values champions’, across its global business.
Being a certified B Corp also remains a key priority with the company set to undergo the rigorous recertification process later this year.
Intrepid Co-Founders Darrell Wade and Geoff Manchester plus CEO James Thornton will visit 27 country offices over the next four months to communicate the strategy directly.
“People are at the heart of our 2030 Strategy. If we are successful, Intrepid will give back a record amount to environmental and social causes that we believe in as a business,” Mr Thornton said.
“We will provide more travellers with more incredible experiences, inspiration, joy and new ideas than ever before. And we will be one of the most exciting, rewarding and innovative places to work – not in travel but in the world.”
Andrew Macfarlane recently joined Intrepid as its ANZ Purpose Specialist to steer the company’s push to become the region’s corporate purpose leader.
