Intrepid Travel has acquired assets from its long-term partner, Kimberley Wild Expeditions (KWE), in Western Australia as part of its 2030 Strategy to strengthen its operations Down Under.
Intrepid and KWE have aimed to provide top-notch travel experiences in the Kimberley Region as partners for 17 years.
With the purchase, Intrepid takes over KWE’s vehicle fleet and leases the iconic Bungle Bungle Camp, managing operations in the Kimberley Region.
KWE will continue running the Kimberley Travellers Lodge and partner with Intrepid Travel to sell regional products.
This acquisition supports the company’s commitment to sustainable tourism and expands its Australian operations.
The deal reflects Intrepid’s focus on vertical integration, as seen in its recent purchases of JOOB and Haka Tours in the Asia-Pacific region.
“We are thrilled to integrate Kimberley Wild Expeditions’ assets into our portfolio and continue their amazing work and dedication to the region,” Intrepid Travel Australia and New Zealand Managing Director Brett Mitchell said.
“This acquisition marks a significant milestone in our commitment to expanding our sustainable and immersive travel experiences in Western Australia and is a testament to our commitment to delivering extraordinary travel experiences while supporting local community-based tourism.
“We are excited to welcome the KWE team into the Intrepid family and look forward to continuing our journey together.”
Kimberley Wild Expeditions Managing Director James Weeding said, “This acquisition will allow Intrepid to fulfil its operational ambitions within the Kimberley and continue our work and commitment to the region”.
“After partnering with Intrepid for the last 17 years as an operator, it’s the perfect timing for this transition and our team to formally join Intrepid’s business.
“We look forward to continuing our partnership with Intrepid as an agent and continuing to attract new travellers to the Kimberley.”
Yesterday, Intrepid announced the appointment of experienced travel professional Megan Lowe as its new Head of Partnerships for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Earlier this month, Intrepid also appointed Payton Iheme, a Former White House Senior Policy Advisor and tech leader, as its new Chief Impact Officer.
