Intrepid Travel has launched its biggest regional expansion to date with six new Asia trips amid 109 per cent record growth as Australian and New Zealand travellers increasingly seek immersive, locally led experiences in lesser-known regions.
The B Corp travel company has introduced six new itineraries, ranging from eight to 16 days, across China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia, representing Intrepid’s largest investment in North and Central Asia.
It’s propelled by Aussie and Kiwi travellers with 109 per cent year-on-year growth in demand for this lesser-known region, compared to 66 per cent growth globally.

Over the past three years, the region has seen a strong resurgence in travel, including 138 per cent YOY growth from Aussies and Kiwis to China alone, driven by increasing demand for off-the-beaten-path adventures.
These new small-group trips are now available to book, departing from March 2026:
- 8-day Walking the Great Wall of China trip from AUD$1,895
- 10-day Kyrgyzstan: Trekking the Tien Shan Trails trip from AUD$3,395
- 10-day Southern China Highlights: Hong Kong to Shanghai trip from AUD$3,495
- 10-day China Real Food Adventure trip from AUD$3,895
- 14-day Mongolia Expedition: Reindeer Herders trip from AUD$5,495
- 16-day Highlights of Central Asia trip from AUD$6,995

Highlights from the new trips include visiting the unrenovated Great Wall of China, trekking the foothills of Kyrgyzstan’s Tien Shan Mountains and staying with reindeer herders in the Mongolian taiga.
Intrepid Travel General Manager of Experiences Erica Kritikides said demand for small-group tours to China, Mongolia and the ‘Stans has exploded with new additions bringing the total to 48 trips available across Northern and Central Asia.

“Intrepid’s small-group tours in Northern and Central Asia have soared in popularity with travellers in recent years. Bookings are well exceeding pre-COVID levels and show no sign of slowing down,” she said.
“Over a year in the making, these newly curated trips offer travellers unique, immersive and locally led experiences, while creating meaningful opportunities for remote communities to benefit from tourism.”

Intrepid Travel Managing Director of Asia & Head of Global Operations Natalie Kidd added: “This region of Asia offers huge diversity, from bustling cities and ancient temples to awe-inspiring landscapes and rugged terrain.”
“We’re excited to be expanding our presence in destinations that we believe are shaping the future of travel in Asia.”
