Last year Hello Kitty fans went coo-coo for Japan’s Hello Kitty themed Shinkansen bullet train which ran for a limited time. As of today, fans can get their fix once again thanks to a new kitty-themed bullet train.
The new West Japan Railway Company Haruka train runs between Kansai Airport and the ancient capital of Kyoto.
The exterior is quite different to last year’s uber cute pink and white styled Shinkansen bullet train. The theme for this new train is “a traditional Japanese welcome”. Beautiful.
The exterior features detailed illustrations of Hello Kitty in traditional dress surrounded by colourful flora and fauna.
The motifs of butterflies, flowers and other nature themes are carried through to the train’s interior.
There is also a good chance that passengers catching the new train will get to meet Hello Kitty donned in her Japanese Kimono when stepping on board the train.
And how cool is this, there will be no extra charges for taking the Hello Kitty Haruka train. Just keep in mind that a seat reservation is required and can be made using the JR Pass or any of the regional JR West passes.
