It started with a whole program dedicated to Africa, then it was four itineraries into Nepal. Now Trafalgar is expanding its 2019 portfolio again, with domestic trips around Australia.
For the first time in the company’s 72-year history, Aussies will be able to book Trafalgar trips in their backyards.
Speaking to media in Sydney this week, Trafalgar’s Chief Executive, Gavin Tollman, said that although Australia and New Zealand itineraries have been available to international travellers for some time, 2019 will be the first time they’re available to local holidaymakers.

He explained that the decision to launch locals trips to locals emerged out of customer demand, which has been growing every year.
“Domestic trips is something that our customers have been asked for more and more every year. They want to get Trafalgar experiences here in Australia.”

So what will Trafalgar’s domestic itineraries around Australia look like?
They 12 itineraries range from five- to- 15 day trips and cover all areas of the country from outback to capital cities.
Aussies who want a taste of the south can book a five-day ‘Southern Capitals – City Meets Bush’ itinerary travelling from Sydney to Canberra, Beechworth and then ending in Melbourne. It includes high-end accommodation, a trip to the Parliament House, a stop by a sheep farm and a ‘Be My Guest’ breakfast freshly-cooked by locals in Beechworth.

For a dive into Australia’s ocean life, there’s the six-day ‘Queensland Islands & Rainforest’ itinerary starting in Hamilton Island and travelling to Mission Beach, Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef. Guests will meet Australia’s tropical fish and enjoy idyllic views over the Whitsunday Islands from the Reef View Hotel.
A connection with Australia’s cultural heritage can be made during the 11-day ‘Outback Safari’ tour beginning in Uluru, and then heading to Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon, Alice Springs, Katherine, Kakadu, Darwin and Leitchfield National Park. Along the way, travellers will see Aboriginal rock painting, watch gorgeous sunsets and sunrises, and meet a local family that’ll share stories of ecology, culture, astronomy and sustainability.

With the addition to Africa, Australia and recently, Antarctica, Trafalgar will officially travel to all seven continents in 2019.
