Australian-Based travel company, Intrepid rushes to Kenya to be with tourists and ground crew.
A fatal truck crash in Kenya has left two Australians dead and another three tourists injured.
The truck allegedly blew a tyre and careened into a river on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya, landing on its roof in the shallow waters.
One of the tourists died on the spot after the truck rolled down a steep embankment and crashed onto its roof.
The other died at Narok County Referral Hospital after sustaining serious injuries.
Both were in their 60s.
Twenty others aboard the truck, headed to the popular Masai Mara game reserve, also sustained injuries.
Officials were quick to rush to the site to assist with the injured also gaining assistance from members of the public.
Intrepid were quick to release a statement on the incident.
“Our first concern is with those affected and their friends and families,” James Thorton, Managing Director of Intrepid said.
Intrepid Co-founder, Geoff Manchester will be departing for Nairobi today to provide support and assistance to both tourists and their ground team.
While the Australian government have not updated their travel warnings since the 27 August, their site advises to reconsider travel to Nairobi.
This is not the first time the area has experienced a fatal car crash.
The crash site, near Narok, is a mere three kilometers away from where another bus lost control last year and killed 42 people on the way to Sori.
