In what’s billed as the world’s longest bus journey, Adventures Overland is launching a 56-day luxury coach trip across Europe, departing from Istanbul on 7 August 2023, travelling 12,000km through 22 countries to arrive in the UK capital on 1 October.
Transporting just 30 passengers, Indian expedition company Adventures Overland’s Bus to London trip will set you back USD$24,300pp (approximately AUD$36,500pp), including daily breakfast, 30 lunches and dinners and all hotel stays.
For comparison, Topdeck’s Mega European trip clocks in at 49 days across 19 countries from AUD$11,289pp.
The initial annual Road to London route, inspired by the Hippie Trail buses of the 1950s and ‘60s, was due to depart in 2021.
Three years later, the altered route departs from Turkey via the Balkans, Scandinavia and Western Europe with Myanmar, China and Russia closed to visitors.
The trip starts in Turkey, heading north through the Balkans to Scandinavia before crossing to Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and France and the UK.
The website states: “This bus journey is unlike any other in which you will experience varied countries, cultures, customs, climates, currencies, time zones, people, food and above all, get to see the creations of Mother Nature, one km at a time from the comfort of your seat.”
The luxury coach features adjustable recliner seats with ample legroom in a 2×1 configuration.
Each seat has a personal entertainment system, charging points and ports, a foldable tray, bottle and cup holders and storage.
The bus also allows two full-size suitcases per passenger and features an ’emergency use’ toilet.
Bus to London is the brainchild of Adventures Overland Founders and Guinness World Record Holders Sanjay Madan and Tushar Agarwal.
Adventures Overland has transported 100-plus passengers on three annual Road to London trips from India to the UK, a 50-day trip via multiple SUVs.

Not to be outdone, Contiki is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a planned new The Big Original trip. Inspired by its first tour in 1962 – 60 days across 19 countries and 33 cities by coach in April 2023.
