Travellers Choice members are reaping the rewards of a strong return to profitability and trading rebates with the national network group of independent travel agents reporting a pre-tax operating profit of $2.02 million for the 2022-23 financial year.
The group will return the majority of profit back to members – Travellers Choice’s sole shareholders – with a six per cent unfranked dividend (30 cents per share) and trading rebates based on preferred partner sales.
Travellers Choice Managing Director Christian Hunter said member shareholders had shown “remarkable dedication and resilience” over the past few years.
“Since the reopening of domestic and international borders, members have seen an outstanding resurgence in sales,” he said.
“At the same time, our company has continued to exercise prudence in terms of operational expenses. These factors have contributed to a financial performance that exceeds expectations and budgets.
“These financial returns, with our low fee structure and unrivalled support services, ensure Travellers Choice membership continues to offer independent travel agents exceptional value.”
He added that the profits not returned to shareholders will be invested in expanding support services.
The Board also forecasts strong financial results for 2023-24 as the industry resumes full operations boosted by unwavering travel demand.
Members will meet at the AGM before the 2023 Conference at The Star Gold Coast on 10-12 November 2023.
The 2023 Conference will feature keynote speakers, workshops, networking sessions, a Preferred Supplier Exhibition and the National Awards Gala Dinner.
