A whopping 78 per cent of Australians are keen to go on multiple trips this year with the new 2025 Global Travel Trends report highlighting that Aussies plan to take up to three holidays. Here’s what travel advisors need to know.
With the cost of living top of mind, Aussie travellers will make their dollar go further using budget breaks and travel hacks.
The Amex 2025 Global Travel Trends Report found more than half (51%) of Aussies will travel domestically at the same frequency as last year while 34 per cent will travel even more in 2025.

For international travel, 43 per cent of Aussies will maintain their usual travel habits with around one-third (34%) planning to travel overseas more in 2025.
While Australians plan to travel more, they also want to travel smarter by selecting destinations that offer the best value as well as curated, unique experiences.
The 2025 Global Travel Trends survey found priorities for holidaymakers this year include places that match their budget (68%), followed by places that match interests such as food, sport and fashion (42%), as well as locations that offer authentic local experiences (42%).

It also tracks with recent data showing 84 per cent of Aussies will avoid peak school holiday travel periods to cut costs.
Aussies are also becoming savvy travel hackers with 44 per cent planning to use points for travel this year.
Travellers are using reward points earned on everyday expenses for flights, hotels and upgrades.

Millennials and Gen Z are leading the trend of maximising travel reward benefits by linking their credit card to streaming services (20%) like Netflix or dining partners (18%) such as Uber Eats
With so many Australians actively using credit card rewards and loyalty programs to maximise travel benefits, the 2025 Global Travel Trends report shows that travel hacking has firmly established itself as a popular and strategic approach to securing better travel experiences.
