Almost half (43%) of Australians plan to take multi-generational holidays in the next year, according to new Club Med research. The findings come as the all-inclusive resort brand debuts a new way to travel for family groups after bookings rise by 48 per cent.
The findings also show one in four Aussies (28%) prefer multi-generational holidays to travelling with immediate family with 70 per cent enjoying the quality time spent together.
Some of the reasons given for the rise in multi-generational holidays include cost benefits (35%) with groups of 20 or more receiving a discount on the booking and travel budgets (27%).
Despite cost-of-living pressures, 44 per cent will split the cost of the multi-generational holidays evenly among the adults in the group.
However, travelling in a large group still has its challenges. One-third (38%) of Aussies admitted different interests are their biggest frustration when booking a multi-generational holiday with 27 per cent preferring a destination with an all-inclusive offering to combat this concern.

Multi-generational cruising is also seeing a surge in interest for its all-inclusive nature.
In addition, an all-inclusive resort offers the perfect bundled holiday solution with accommodation, dining, activities and kids clubs included upfront with no hidden costs.
The new Generational Getaways by Club Med offering is now available at all Asia-Pacific resorts and geared for groups of eight or more with priority room locations and reserved tables for dinner.
There’s even a group photoshoot to capture those multi-gen holiday memories.

Club Med Pacific General Manager Michelle Davies said the launch is a response to the emerging multi-generational holiday travel trend, representing 76 per cent of the brand’s group bookings for January-June 2025 and up 48 per cent on July-December 2024.
“The organic growth we are seeing for multi-generational bookings is significant so the introduction of a dedicated offering for large family and friend groups at Club Med was a clear step forward,” she said.
“Our all-inclusive offering at Club Med provides a hassle-free experience with something for everyone, allowing our guests to spend more time creating special memories than planning an itinerary that pleases everyone.”
