If you’re guilty of wishing for a bit more privacy and space at the beach, you might be interested to hear about the bizarre plans for 4.5m x 4.5m plexiglass booths, designed by Italy-based Nuova Neon Group 2.
Okay, so we’ve all wished for a bit more personal space, whether it be on the beach, in a restaurant, at a tourist hotspot or a music festival. And now, you’re probably either feeling slightly guilty for that or absolutely loving the new social distancing rules!
All around the world, countries are having to make adjustments to this ‘new normal’ and a try to work out the best way to do things, moving forwards.
Say hello to the company, Nuova Neon Group 2, who are planning to produce plexiglass booths, so that Italians can still enjoy time at the beach, this summer.
Millions head to Italians beaches every summer and, according to Rai News, Lorenza Bonaccorsi, the undersecretary for culture, says “we’re working to make that possible”.
Plexiglass boxes for beach tourism
These booths, aimed to safeguard beachgoers during the pandemic, would be big enough to fit two sunloungers, one umbrella, and a whole lot of sunny vitamin D vibes.
The firm behind the concepts, Italy-based Nuova Neon Group 2, has released preliminary sketches showing what the box-like structures would look like when installed.
The designs show that the booths would measure 4.5 metres by 4.5 metres, to ensure people are at a safe distance, with the transparent walls standing two metres high (6.5ft).
Claudio Ferrari, the CEO of Nuova Neon Group 2, spoke to La Repubblica about the inspiration behind the Plexiglass boxes.
“A week ago we tried to imagine the return to the beach.”
“The idea was born with the dual purpose of protecting but also of restarting the activities.”
Nuova Neon Group 2’s Facebook page shows how it has also made plexiglass booths for restaurants and other customer-facing businesses.
